Fabric CIGARETTE TEST

Cigarette test: what is it?
The BS 5852 standard provides test methods for the use of composite upholstery materials.

The aim of the test, according to British standards, is to measure the flammability of material for upholstered furniture in accordance with BS 5852 Ignition Source 1.
These test methods assess the ability of these materials to burn when exposed to a lit cigarette or a burning object.

During the test, gradual smouldering is observed, starting from the surface of the fabric or from inside the padding of the covering.
If the covering smoulders or catches fire within an hour of the cigarette being extinguished, this product does not meet the standard.
